Taking Action: Ever thought about the things you would like to do, but you get to the end of the year and life got in the way? Why is there so much on your To-Do-List there isn't room for any of your desires? We live in a very connected world, so it is easy to become distracted with information or organising ourselves, and not actually fulfilling our desires.
The Process: A key ingredient to taking action is becoming comfortable with change. Changing your life is one of the most provoking things you can do. We are creatures of comfort and often choose routine and 'the known' over the unknown. Although, being in a state of continual flux does not promote good health, being able to cope with a degree of change leads to greater resilience, growth and well-being.
Source - Stand - Shift Your Emotional State: Sourcing overwhelming feelings that lead to disengagement and distraction can help to create increased flow and a motivated mindset. Forward action requires a 'marathon' rather than a 'sprint' approach, so it's important to take the journey to source your overwhelming feelings, create appropriate insights that stand against your assumptions and take action to shift yourself to a positive emotional state.
People who take action believe that things can be better. They embrace failure as they know that mistakes lead to greater learning, mastery and execution. Success is defined by the ability to shift, change and redefine action steps into 'doable' tasks, so that mastery can be achieved. Action-orientated people focus on motivating themselves with external and internal resources that encourage them along the action journey, so that anxiety, procrastination and distraction do not become the ultimate barriers.
Keys to Taking Action:
Define you Desires: Know what you want; describe your desires with enough detail that you can design a substantial action plan
Fail Forward: Be comfortable with failure, as this leads to learning and mastery. Break down your action steps into smaller tasks if something is too difficult; use a motivating 'fuel' source to keep you engaged in the change process. Source, Stand and Shift emotions to create a motivated and centred mindset.
Change: Be okay with changing what you have become comfortable with. It takes 21 day for your mind to create a new habit with ease ('flow', total engagement or ease).
Collaboration: Creating collaboration and relationships provide resources to motivate you on.
Openness: Be a life-long learner so that you are able to embrace a new life framework that will bring about fulfilled desires.
Fueling Yourself: Learning what 'fuels' you, rather than brings exhausts you, is a key ingredient to encouraging forward momentum.
